2. What is monks cloth used for?

Since it features a loose weave that allows thick needles to pass through, it is perfect to be used as the foundation fabric for punch needle embroidery, rug hooking, and tufting. It is also used for Swedish weaving (huck weaving), heavy-weight cross-stitch, and crafting cozy home items such as throw blankets, pillows, and tote bags.

3. How to keep monks cloth from fraying?

Monks fabric frays easily once cut due to its loose weave. You can avoid it by:

Securing the edges with a quick zigzag stitch or serger using a sewing machine.
Applying a thin layer of fabric glue or liquid fray-check along the raw edges.
Wrapping masking tape or painter's tape tightly around the cut borders before you start crafting.

4. How to stretch monks cloth?

Stretch the monks cloth “drum-tight” to keep loops from falling out. Place your fabric over a non-slip embroidery hoop, Q-snap frame, or a wooden rug-hooking frame equipped with gripper strips. Pull the fabric evenly from opposite sides (top and bottom, then left and right) until the woven grid lines are perfectly straight and the surface sounds like a drum when tapped.

5. How to wash monks cloth?

Monks cloth shrinks 10–15%. If you want to wash the final item, secure the raw edges to prevent fraying, pre-wash on a gentle cycle, and tumble dry low. For completed punch-needle projects, spot-clean or hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry to protect the yarn loops.

Best quality Monk's cloth on the market.

I've been a rug hooking and rug punching instructor for over 25 years and I have had problems with other companies Monk's cloth not coming off the bolt with a straight grain. This Monk's from Organic Cotton is beautiful right off the bolt. Straight, crisp and a pleasure to work with. The price is right, the shipping is fast, and it works well with fine shading projects. I can't ask for any better.

The material has no weird smells It’s smells very clean and natural. The material is natural in colour comes wrapped in clear plastic to protect the material in shipping. The shipment comes in a very sturdy cardboard box with air filled pillow packs. Canada post delivered my package in an excellent time frame. Will be buying more material in the near future.
